Leverage that driving or flying time this holiday with a good audio book! Here are 4 books I’ve recently listened to on my iPhone.
Get Back to Basics. . . Leadership and the Art of Struggle: How Great Leaders Grow Through Challenge and Adversity by Steven Snyder. In hindsight, many of our greatest character building moments came as we struggled through situations. This book provides great stories about leaders, their struggles and insight on ways to navigate the journey you’re on now or may soon be on.
Get Motivated. . . Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World by Bob Goff. A real man who reveals his life journey and the impact he hopes to have every day. He views his day job as the fundraising mechanism for his missions in life. This book will challenge you to wonder if there’s more impact you could have.
Gain Perspective. . . The Bedford Boys: One American Town’s Ultimate D-day Sacrifice by Alex Kershaw. 19 of 34 young men from the small town of Bedford, VA were killed within minutes at Omaha Beach. A huge sacrifice for a community. As a leader, gain perspective of priorities, of leading in battle, of sacrifice, and of the rippling impact of decisions.
Get Educated. . . David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants by Malcolm Gladwell. Outcomes are not always what they seem to be or seem that they should be. This book will challenge your notions of advantage and disadvantage providing perspective for how you perceive you should lead at certain moments of time. You will change the way you perceive your employees’ performance after reading this book.
Be a life long learner!
